Malaysia keen to invest fisheries, livestock sector in Bangladesh

Malaysia has expressed its keen interest to invest more in Bangladesh especially fisheries and livestock sector.
A 41-memebr Malaysian investors’ delegation led by YB Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, assistant minister for agriculture and rural economy modernization affairs of Sarawak Province, expressed his country’s interest at a meeting on Sunday with the high officials of fisheries and livestock ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the hour long meeting, different aspects including export of lobster and baghda shrimp, meet, milk, fish processing and livestock vaccine came up for discussion. The meeting was informed that Bangladeshi fish being exported to European Union (EU) countries with free of certification as the EU had withdraw all types of certification for Bangladeshi fish export by 2015 considering its standard of fishes.
In recent time, Bangladesh has started meet export to different countries including Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and the Maldives. Fisheries and livestock minister Mohammad Sayedul Haq said ‘our Baghda shrimp is the best in the world’. He said favorable environment is prevailing for fisheries and livestock sector in Bangladesh and inspired the delegation members to invest here.
Among others, secretary of the ministry M Maksudul Hasan Khan, Director General of Fisheries Directorate Syed Arif Azad and Director General of Livestock Resources Directorate Dr M Ainul Haq and other high officials were present.
