Bangladesh Premier League T20 Cricket: Malan, Nafees guide Barisal to emphatic victory

English batsman Dawid Malan scored a match-winning unbeaten half century steered Barisal Bulls to record an overwhelming seven-wicket victory over Chittagong Vikings in the 12th match of AKS Bangladesh Premier League T20 held on Monday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur here.
The left handed batsman Malan pairing with Shariar Nafess contributed 150 runs for the second wicket stand during the chase of winning target of 164 runs set by Chittagong Vikings and they hardly had to sweat as the Bulls eventually reached home making 167 for the loss of three wickets with two balls remaining.
Malan played a brilliant knock of 78 runs off 48 balls laced with seven big sixes and three fours and he was remained unbeaten till the end of innings while Nafees supported him with also a magnificent knock of 65-run off 59 balls that studded with seven boundaries and one over boundary.
Imran Khan was the pick of Vikings bowler as he grabbed two wickets conceding 30 runs.
Dawid Malan of Barisal Bulls was named the player of the match for his match-winning innings. Earlier, a magnificent captain’s knock from Tamim Iqbal steered Chittagong Vikings to 163 for 3 after 20 overs against Barisal Bulls, after Barisal Bulls skipper Mushfiqur Rahim won te toss and snet Chittagong Vikings to bat first.
Chittagong’s first wicket stand of 116 in 13.1 overs between Tamim and Jahurul Islam kept the Barisal bowlers at bay and threatened to take the game away from Barisal. The southpaw opener Tamim contributed 75 from just 51 balls with 10 fours and two towering sixes. He received well support Jahurul who chipped in with 36 off 34 balls laced with four boundaries.
Barisal bowlers fought back after the stubborn first-wicket partnership and took wickets to peg back Chittagong. Al-Amin Hossain, Abu Hider and Kamrul Islam took a wicket apiece while the rest of bowlers kept it tight and made run-making quite difficult for Chittagong batters on the slow at Mirpur pitch.
