An agreement has been signed between Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and the Maxons Group for leasing 30 acres of land at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN).
The land leasing signing ceremony was held at the Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel in the city on Monday.
Three companies of the Maxons Group – Metro spinning Mills Ltd, Maxons Spinning Mills Ltd and Maxons Spinning Mills (unit-2)-signed the agreement separately. As per the deal, the each company of the Maxons Group will get ten acres of land in the BSMSN at Mrisarai in Chattagram.
Of the three companies, the Maxons Spinning Mills Ltd will invest $40 million and will create employment of 1200 by setting up a spinning mill at the Shilpa Nagar, while the Metro Textile Mills Ltd wil set up Textile Mill by investing $30 million and over 800 people will be employed here.
The factory will produce yarn dying along with making merchandised and unmerchandised fabrics.
On the other hand, the group will also set up second unit of the Maxons Spinning Mills Ltd by investing around $41 million, which will create over 1200 employment.
The total investment of the group will be $112.89 and over 4000 people will be employed directly and indirectly in the industries.
BEZA’s Executive Member Md Abdul Mannan and Md Showkat Ali on behalf of Metro Spinning Mills Ltd and Mohammad Ali Khokon on behalf of Maxons Spinning Ltd signed the three separate agreements.
Congratulating the Maxons Group, BEZA’s Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury said, “The BSMSN has become a lucrative attraction for the investors of home and abroad. The BEZA has already completed all initiatives to set up a ‘garment village’ on 500 acres land.”
“An Industrial Synergy will be established by setting up textile mills at the Shilpa Nagar,” the BEZA Chairman said.
A tremendous industrial revolution is going to be held in the country as the BSMSN is going to be one of the largest industrial cities in Asia, he said.
