Major candidates sharpen campaign ahead of CCC polls

Candidates backed by ruling Awami League (AL) and BNP visibly sharpened today their campaign in their enhanced efforts to woo voters ahead of the Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) polls.
Political stalwarts of both the parties put in their efforts to drum up the campaign for AL backed Nagorik Committee candidate AZM Nasir Uddin and BNP backed incumbent mayor of the port city M Manjur Alam.
AL leaders including former minister Hasan Mahmun, MP, Nurul Islam BSc, Saimum Sarwar Komol, MP, Khurshed Alam Sujan were seen visiting different areas of the city seeking votes for Nasir Uddin.
The long-standing water logging problem of the port city appeared to be a major electoral issue of the ruling party candidate while he pledged to resolve the miseries of the residents if he is elected.
“Nasir is a competent person and he will able to build port city as a modern city if you elect him as the mayor”, Mahmud said as he was carrying out the campaign.
Alam, on the other hand, sought reelection to continue the development works which he initiated in his last tenure as he was seeking votes along with BNP leaders who hail from Chittagong.
Mayor aspirant Nasir visits CCC areas: Awami League (AL) backed Nagorik Committee candidate AZM Nasir Uddin urged city dwellers to elect him as Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC).
He said if he is elected as mayor of Chittagong, he will try to remove water-logging from Chittagong city.
AJM Nasir Uddin along with city AL leaders, Ishak Mia, Nurul Islam BSc, Khurshed Alam Sujan, Noman Al Mahmud, visited the different area of Pathantuli ward of CCC at 11 am on Saturday evening listened to the problems of the locals and narrated his future plans.
During the campaign at Pathantuli area, former Gono Parisad member Ishak Mia urged the locals to vote for Nasir in order to free themselves from long-standing water-logging problem in the area.
“Nasir is a competent person and he will free you from this problem if you elect him as city mayor”, he commented.
