Another Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) member, who was the driver of dismissed Rab official Major Arif Hossain, gave his deposition before a local court under Section 164 on Tuesday.
Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mahiuddin recorded the statement of Nayek Dewlar Hossain in the evening, said officer-in-charge of district Detective Branch of police Mamunur Rashid Mondal, also the investigation officer of the sensational seven-murder case.
With this, a total of nine members of Rab-11 testified in connection with the killing of seven people, including Narayanganj city panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker.
On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area of Narayanganj.
Soon, senior lawyer at Narayanganj Judge’s Court Chandan Kumar Sarker and his driver were also abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.
Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan Kumar, were recovered from the Shitalakhya River on April 30. Besides, the following day, the body of Jahangir, car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the river.
