The Ministry of Education has formed an eight-member probe committee to recover the occupied Jagannath University (JnU) halls.
The body was formed in an emergency meeting of the ministry held in the Secretariat on Monday.
Local MP Kazi Firoz Rashid was made the convener of the body.
Seven other members of the committee are: an additional secretary of the home ministry, additional secretary of the education ministry, joint secretary of the home ministry, Dhaka deputy commissioner, president and secretary of JnU Teachers’ Association and treasurer of the university.
The committee was asked to submit its report within 30 working days.
The move follows a month of protests by students and teachers of JnU to recover the nine halls. These halls are allegedly occupied by MPs, ruling Awami League leaders, police, and local influential people, according to locals and media reports.
