Major General Shafinul Islam has been appointed new Director General (DG) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The Public Administration Ministry issued an order in this regard, on Tuesday.
Major General Md Shafinul Islam replaced Major General Abul Hossain as the chief of the paramilitary force.
He had been serving Bangladesh Tea Board as chairman since February 14, 2016.
He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on June 25, 1984 and was commissioned on June 27 in 1986 in the Infantry.
He attended several professional courses both at home and abroad.
Shafinul is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur and obtained his Masters in Defence Studies from National University, Bangladesh.
Earlier, on March 7, former BGB Abul Hossain was withdrawn and attached to the Armed Forces Division on March 7.
Meanwhile, Major General Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman has been made new Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, according to the notification.
