Mainstreaming of ethnic people for their welfare underscored

Professional leaders and social workers at a meeting observed that ensuring social justice and improvement of living and livelihood conditions can be the vital means of mainstreaming ethnically minority communities in the country’s northwest region.
They also mentioned the ethnic minority people should be ensured the rights of land, food, healthcare, education and cultural facilities for their welfare.
Jatiya Adibashi Parishad (JAP) organised the discussion at Muktijuddho Pathagar in Rajshahi recently in observance of the International Indigenous Day- 2019 More than 100 ethnic minority people joined the programme.
Chaired by JAP city unit president Sumila Tudu, the meeting was addressed, among others, by its Central President Rabindra Nath Saren, city unit General Secretary Andrias Biswash, valiant freedom fighters Shahjahan Ali Barjahan and Abul Kalam Azad and JAP members Ragunath Rabidas, Bibhuti Bhushan Mahato, Tarun Munda and Sabitry Hembrom.
Various development and voluntary organisations including Christian Mission Hospital, BLAST, World Vision Bangladesh, Ashrai, CCBVO and ACD joined the programme.
The discussants opined that the aboriginal people are hard working and have been playing a vital role in increasing farm production. They stressed on removing the disparity between the aboriginal people and the privileged population.
In observance of the day, the JAP also brought out a colourful rally in the city which paraded some city streets. Various other ethnic minority related development organisations observed the day through different daylong programmes like rally, discussion meeting and cultural events in the city.
