Mahidul Islam Ankon and Ashok Menaria hit a magnificent unbeaten century saw Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity to secured an overwhelming seven-wicket victory over Agrani Bank Cricket Club in the fifth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Saturday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Chasing a winning target of 260 runs set by Agrani Bank, Khelaghar however suffered early batting jolt losing 3 for 40 in the scoreboard but a solid 221-run four-wicket stand between Mahidul and Ashok steered Khelaghar to their destination scoring 261 for the loss of three wickets with 14 balls remaining.
Mahidul contributed 115-run off 131-ball laced with four boundaries and six over boundaries while Indian recruit Ashok supported him also making 113-run off 112-ball that studded with nine boundaries and three over boundaries.
Pacer Shafiul Islam grabbed three wickets conceding 33 runs for Agrani Bank.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Agrani Bank scored a competitive total of 259 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs with Jahid Javed top scoring 54 runs. Abdur Razzak (30) and Shahriar Nafees (29) were the other notable scorers for Agrani Bank.
Robiul Islam, Masum Khan and Rafsal Al Mahmud all shared two wickets each for Khelaghar.
Mahidul Islam Ankon of Khelaghar was named the player of the match.
