Round the year including Bangladesh Television (BTV) many single episode plays are being aired in different satellite channels. These plays are being aired during the break times of telecasting advertisements.
But a less number of quality plays are being aired. As a result, viewers have lost their interests to watch these plays and directors also lost their interests to make these.
Popular actor and director Mahfuz Ahmed has taken initiative to save single episode plays. Under his production house, Banichitro RTV will telecast four single episode plays in each month from now. From July 29 at 11:00pm the one hour play is scheduled to be aired on RTV.
While talking in this regard Mahfuz Ahmed told this correspondent, “Play directors, actors and producers main platform is single episode play. From the golden age of BTV we have been seen this thing. Viewers closely attracted with those plays after watching these. But now these plays do not attract the viewers’ attentions because budget of these plays is not mentionable now. As a result, these plays are on the verge of extinction now. Everybody should come forward to save the single episode or one-hour long plays.”
