A female student of a madrasa has been gang-raped at Nilphamari’s Kishoreganj Upazila, her family alleged.
The victim’s father said three young men raped the ninth grader while she was returning home at Totuaparha village under Nilphamari’s Jaldhaka from the madrasa on Wednesday afternoon.
She has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The father said pickup driver Maruful Islam, 30, an acquaintance of the girl, promised to drive her home and she got on the vehicle at 5pm.
But Islam took her to Abil Bazar area under Kishoreganj and he and two other youths on the pickup raped her and dumped her unconscious. Locals rushed her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
The hospital’s gynaecology department Assistant Registrar Kaniz Soniha said culprits possibly took turns to rape the girl. “She is bleeding. Her condition is serious,” she said.
Kishoreganj police OC Mustafizur Rahman said he heard of the incident. But nobody turned up to lodge any complaint over the incident, he added.
