A madrasah student drowned in a canal at Pattashi village in Zianagar Upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Tariqul Islam, 7, son of Abdur Rahman Hawladar, a resident of Pattashi village. Tariqul was a student of class II of a local madrasah.
Local said, Toriq drowned in The canal while playing adjacent to the water body in the morning.
Later, family members rescued the floating body of the minor boy and took him to Zianagar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
