Madrasa student did not go home on holidays at Gafargaon under Mymensingh.. The life of the student fell on the road when the lorry hit him. The incident took place at around 10:30 am on Friday at the bypass of Pukhuria village on Gafargaon-Bhaluka road.
The deceased was identified as Rakib, 15, son of Khairul Islam of Haji Bazar area of Bhaluka upazila.
According to eyewitnesses, Rajib, a student of Imam Hafsa Hafizul Kor An Madrasa in Tejpata Market area of the municipal town, rode his bicycle to Bhaluka on Friday morning. After reaching the bypass junction of Pukhuria village on the Gafargaon-Bhaluka road, he first collided with a covered van and was crushed under a tlorry coming from the opposite direction and died on the spot.
The locals came and arrested the killer but the driver escaped. Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Gafargaon Police Station OC Farooq Ahmed said the body was recovered and sent for autopsy and the girl was detained. Necessary legal action will be taken.
