Madrasa, cattle burnt by lightning in Kurigram

Lightning struck burnt the valuable papers and furniture’s of Kurigram Alea Madrasa and a cattle was also killed in Kurigram Sadar upazila at around 8.30 am on Sunday.
While it was raining in the morning on Sunday suddenly lightning struck in C.I. shed room of the principal, vice principal and office room and furniture’s and valuable documents including chair, tables,Almirah, five computer sets, all certificates, admission forms, all regulars, necessary papers of the year 1967 were burnt to ashes.
Being informed Fire Fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after frantic efforts of one hour.People of all walks of life including Deputy Commissioner Sultana Parvin,Zila Parishad Chairman Jafar Ali (former MP),Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Amin Al Parvez, District Education Officer (DEO) Abdul Kader Gazi visited on the spot.Principal of the Alea Madrasha Alhaj Noor Bakta told New Age that all the valuable documents including furniture were burnt and burst into tears.
Several books were burnt but first the page and other side of a holy Quran were burnt but no alphabets were burnt, several eyewitnesses said.Both male and female students came to the Madrasha and expressed deep shock following the incident. Huge police forces were deployed on the spot.
In another incident lightning struck in the same time in front of the house of one Motiar Rahman, a class three employee of Kurigram collectorate office of village Khalisha Kalowa under Kathalbari union in Kurigram Sadar upazila.A cattle was killed on the spot and a heap of straw was also burnt. Fire Fighters rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Kurigram Sadar UNO Amin Al Parvez and chairman of Kathalbari union parishad Redwanul Haque Dulal visited on the spot.
