SAG: Mabia, Ziarul, Fatema win three more gold for BD

Mabia Akhter, Ziarul Islam and Fatema Mujib won gold medals for Bangladesh in their respective events of the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) in Nepal on Saturday.
Mabia Akhter clinched gold at the 76kg weight category in weightlifting event.
Mabia lifted total 185kg to clinch gold. She lifted 80kg in snatch and 105kg in clean and jerk. It was the fifth gold medal for Bangladesh in the 13th South Asian Games. It may be mentioned that Mabia Akhter won gold medal in the 12th South Asian Games in 2016.
Priyathi of Sri Lanka bagged silver medal in this event, while Tara Devi of Nepal got bronze medal.
Ziarul Islam captured gold at the 96kg weight category in weightlifting event. It was the sixth gold medal in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games.
He lifted total 262kg to earn gold. He lifted 120kg in snatch and 142kg in clean and jerk.
Meanwhile, Fatema Mujib secured gold in fencing. She won gold in women’s individual event. It was the seventh gold medal for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh bagged three gold medals in the Karate discipline of the ongoing South Asian Games while Dipu Chakma of Bangladesh clinched first gold medal for Bangladesh in Taekwondo event. In total BD won seven gold medals, standing 5th.
