Mabia Akter Simanto broke record in the women’s 64 kg weight category of Weightlifting Competition of the Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games at Mymensingh district gymnasium on Wednesday. She clinched gold after lifting 181 kg (Snatch 80 kg &101 kg in Clean & Jerk) in her favourite event.
Earlier, this weightlifter of Bangladesh Ansar & VDP bagged two gold medals in the last SA Games.
Mabia lifted 179 kg to clinch gold in this event in the Inter-Service Weightlifting Competition in 2018.
After bagging the gold medal Mabia Akter said, ” I was injured when I tried to lift 103 kg in Clean & Jerk. I got injury in my left hand. I am worried that there was a little fracture in my hand. After getting the X-Ray report I shall understand, what is happened.”
She said, ” I feel very good to break my own record. It was my best effort.”
Mila Akter of Bangladesh Army gained silver in this event after lifting 132 kg, while Laboni Akter of Sipahibagh Jobo Sangha earned bronze after lifting 116 kg.
