Narsingdi 6 murder: HC delivers split verdict

UNB, Dhaka :
A High Court bench on Sunday delivered split verdicts on the death sentence awarded to seven people by a Narsingdi court in the sensational six murder case.
While senior judge of the bench Justice Shahidul Islam acquitted all the convicts, junior judge Justice Abdur Rob upheld the trial court judgment.
The convicts are Aktaruzzaman, Dudu Mia, Fazlul Haque, Mohammad Jahangir, Swapan Mia, Shafique Bhuiyan and Shahid Mia.
On May 16, 2007, Rahis Uddin, his wife Salma Begum and son Rajib along with three others were slaughtered at Juboraj Villa
at Delanagar Purbopara in the district. Shahjahan Bhuiyan, brother of Salma, had filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station on May 22.
After examining the records and witnesses, Narsingdi additional session judge sentenced the seven accused to death on March 17, 2008. The convicts filed appeals with the High Court against the verdict seven days later.
