A joint drive of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) and RAB-7 forces in Chittagong seized a Mitsubishi Pajero car worth about Tk 5 cr ores from Green View Residential area of East Nasirabad Road No.4 under Biyazid thana area in the city on Tuesday morning.
The luxurious vehicle was seized from the garage of one Nurul Afsar . Sources said the 3200 CC Mitsuibishi brand vehicle was imported evading govt taxes with fake documents from abroad by Nurul Afsar. Shahmimur Rahman, Deputy Director of the CIID department, said the costly vehicle was imported over tax holiday facility in the name of another brand and lower CC capacity.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Customs Intelligence conducted a drive in the area and recovered the vehicle at around 11 am on Tuesday. The vehicle now under the custody of CIID, sources said.
2 held with arms: Chittagong Metropolitan Police in a drive detained two persons with a Single Barrel Gun and five cartridges from a residence at Patantuli area under Doublemooring thana on Monday night.
The detainee was identified as Haidurul Amin Monju, 34, and Babul Paul, 40.
Based on information, a team of Doublemooring Thana police raided aresidence at Patantuli area.
Police recovered a country made Single Barrel Gun and five cartridgesafter searching their bodies.
A case was filed with Doublemooring thana in this connection, police said.
