Lowest temperature now 4.5°C in Tetulia

The year’s lowest 4.5 degrees celsius temperature was recorded on Sunday in Tetulia upazila of Panchagarh district.
Rahidul Islam, Officer in Charge of Tetulia Weather Observation Centre of Bangladesh Meteorological Department said,’The cold wind is coming Saiberia over the Himalayan mountains. It enters through the northern region, sweeping all over Bangladesh.
He said also that the cold temperature may continue for this week.
Our correspondents report that the people of the northern region are in deep trouble due to record low temperature.
People are found beside fire warms in the morning and the evening to get rid of the serious cold weather.
Besides, the elderly people and the children are being attacked with cold related diseases. Many of them are in hospitals now. A recent data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room said that 50 deaths were reported between November 1 and December 28 due to cold-related diseases.
The DGHS data said that deaths of 10 persons were recorded from Khagrachhari and Panchagarh each. The victims from Khagrachhari died of acute respiratory infection, and those in Panchagarh died for severity of cold.
