Low-quality Indian medicines flood Chuadanga markets

Sub- standard Indian medicines flooded the markets of Chuadanga district. Different types of Indian medicine enter into the country though various routes by smugglers.
Due to continuous increase in smuggling and marketing of sub-standard-Indian medicines in the markets in the southern region, patients are facing a high risk of their lives and incurring severe economic loss as well. For the same reason, the honest drug merchants of the district are also incurring a huge loss.
According to sources, the patients and their attendants are being cheated and deceived by purchasing sub-standard Indian medicine thinking those to be made in Bangladesh or other countries as the drugs and medicines of the some brand and levels made in India. The drug traders and retailers are making a huge profit by selling those sub-standard medicine.
Sources said , these India sub-standard medicines are being smuggled into the country throughout the bordering routes of Darsona, Karpasdanga, Hariornagar, Zebennagar, in Chuadanga district and being marketed by the dishonest drug traders.
Various types of drug including Diclofanac, Injections and Tablets. Dexamethason tablets, Ranitedin tablets and Eno powder an medicines of almost all brands can be purchased of Indian origin.
The sources said Bangladesh is self sufficient in drug industries and very good quality medicines are being prepared in our country.
The locally produced medicines have got immense popularity and Credibility with the people of this country. But doe to availability of Indian medicines local medicine industries are being threatened and its flourishment is at stoke.
