A teenage girl and her boyfriend allegedly committed suicide by taking poison as their families disapproved of their relationship at Ballabpur in Chougacha upazila here on Sunday night.
Aduri Khatun, 14, daughter of Montaz Ali of Ballabpur village and Al Amin, a resident of Makapur village of the upazila, consumed poison at playground of Ballabpur High School last night, said Saiful Islam, a local UP member and also a resident of Ballabpur village..
Both of them were rushed to Chougacha Health Complex and later shifted to Jessore General Hospital where Al Amin died around 12am and hours later Aduri, a class-IX student of Ballabpur High School, also breathed her last, he added.
Arun Kumar, sub-inspector of Chougacha Police Station, also confirmed the deaths.
