A lane of Salehpur bridge in Savar closed following some cracks.
The lane was closed around 1pm on Wednesday, creating heavy tail back on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, though one lane is opened for vehicular movement.
Dhaka Road and Highways Department’s deputy divisional engineer Maruf Hossain said, “Several cracks were developed on the grider at the old part of the bridge, the way from Savar to Dhaka. The authorities suspended movement of the vehicles on this part of the bridge after visiting the spot as it became risk.
Hope that the bridge will be reopened soon after repairing it, he added.
A 1.5 km traffic congestion was seen from Turag to Aminbazar, Commuters are suffering much for this huge tailback.
