The hard and cold reality is — the coronavirus war is such that our people of talents and expertise should show their courage and determination to come together to save our people. The country is in years of mismanagement.
Our divided politics, and its nature is to ignore the urgency of public interest. May be, that is how the politics of the country prepared the political minds of emerging political leaders.
No useful purpose will be served by blaming the government and the purpose is not to condemn the government anew at this late stage.
By not showing respect to people’s vote to be people’s government the people also lost faith in the political leaders. The information the government sources supply is not believed. But for mobilising the people to face any national crisis trust is imperative between those who ask for sacrifices from the people and the people.
The coronavirus is a dangerous global pandemic which has no cure but lives can be saved only by intensive medical care with the use of breathing machines. Not to have trust in political leaders is certainly most unfortunate for any country, especially, when the crisis is overwhelming.
The health service sector, like the economic sector, is in a mess and competent persons are not wanted here. Everybody had to be politically loyal. This is the bureaucratic idea of running a government where fearing the government is more important than having competent persons to do the job competently for the good of the government and good of the people.
Despite this, the pandemic of corona is a challenge to our national competence and collective conscience. Formation of the joint task force in conjunction with the armed forces is the right thing to do. Now it is for the joint task force to seek help from any section of people needed to do the gigantic job.
Declaring lockdown and keeping the people confined at home is not the full answer to the fight. The government must arrange to pay wages to those who have become jobless and need money to buy the necessities of life.
The middle class and the lower middle class people are in precarious position. In America irrespective of any other consideration, financial crisis faced by everybody is taken into consideration like other rich countries.
We have only to look to other countries how they are managing a lockdown situation. There the officials do not shut down the services the people at home need. Otherwise, an affected person may become the cause of death to the entire family. So needs of the people kept at home locked in must not be forgotten. In some countries masks are distributed freely.
The volunteers are to be inducted to see that the necessary medical help is available urgently. We are sure medical students are ready to volunteer themselves. But they want to be sure that protective gears are provided with.
We have been told that we have sufficient number of testing kits. All over the world such testing kits are considered essential for coming out of the grid of the virus.
The British Prime Minister from his confinement as a corona affected patient issued urgent directives to do the testing most seriously. It is because identifying the virus among inflicted ones is critical for containing the spread of the killing virus.
So in our country testing the people should be done in a massive way and quickly. WHO fears that there may be death of 20 lakhs of our people. We have no reason not to take it seriously.
Density of our population and lack of their awareness about the seriousness of the unseen disease are surely chilling. Our understanding is that the simple health centres can also arrange testing the virus.
We should not be blind as not to see how everybody in other countries is working every minute of the day and night. The leaders are spending hours planning most anxiously as to how best they can help the people.
In this pandemic every minute is important because the patient dies within seconds if a ventilator is not found.
Lockdown will not work at gun point if the joint task force not gets everything to do what is must to do. The people will not die hungry or without treatment quietly.
Help must go to the people wherever they are. This is not easy but we must not fail.
