Local people on Friday foiled an infiltration bid by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) troopers at Madra border in Satkhira district, an official said.
Being chased by the locals, the BSF men fled the area leaving their firearms, ammunition and boat at about 11:ooam.
According to BGB’s Madra Company Commander Abdur Rob, amid heavy rain a group of BSF men from their Hakimpur camp boarding speedboat and country boat crossed the Sonai River.
“And at one stage, two of them equipped with firearms trespassed into the Bangladesh territory and started chasing the villagers. The villagers later built up strong resistance and launched counter attack on the BSF men,” said the company commander.
He added the villagers were also engaged in scuffle with BSF men. When the BGB men rushed to the spot, the two BSF men fled the scene leaving a firearm (Self-Loading Rifle – SLR) loaded with 20 rounds of bullet and a country boat.
According to locals, acting on a tip-off that Bangladesh
cowboys brought cattle from India, the BSF men trespassed into Bangladesh territory and chased the villagers.
Following the incident, Satkhira BGB-38 Acting Commander Major Nazir Ahmed held a flag meeting with BSF-152 Commander Rajesh Kumar. After the meeting, BSF’s firearms and the boat have been returned to them  
In another incident, BSF arrested two Bangladeshi nationals in Chuadanga along with cows in India’s territory on Friday morning.
They arrested persons were identified as Bagu Mia, 40, and Azgar Ali 30, Chuadanga BGB-06 spokesperson said, adding a flag meeting was under process to bring back two Bangladeshi nationals.
