Business Desk :
Local clothing brands in Dhaka are offering discounts from 5 per cent to 40 per cent to boost sales just a couple of days ahead of the Eid ul-Fitr which the businessmen consider as the biggest shopping season.
Dhaka residents are now on a shopping spree for the Eid, the biggest festival of Muslims, and the markets and malls in the city are overcrowded with shoppers amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to fashion market players, the ongoing lockdown caused a negative impact over their businesses, so they want to recover the loss ahead of Eid.
“We are offering a 20 per cent discount on all products at Gentle Park. This offer is for a limited time,” said Abil Hossain, manager of Gentle Park’s showroom at Bashundhara City.
“Many customers are visiting our showroom every day for Eid shopping and we are also maintaining health guidelines amid the pandemic,” he added.
Local clothing brand Cats Eye is also offering discounts on their Eid collection products. Kurta, panjabi, formal shirts and other dresses are available in Cats Eye showroom.
“We are offering a 20 per cent discount on our products to boost our sale. Our Panjabi sale is better than other products,” said Md Jahidul Islam, customer relation and management officer of Cats Eye at Bashundhara City.
“Currently, we are offering 10 per cent discount on all bank card holders and 10 per cent cask back on bKash,” said Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, manager of Freeland at Jamuna Future Park.
“We are offering 20 per cent discount for shirts, 30 per cent discount for t-shirts, and 40 per cent discount for panjabis for this Eid,” said Imran Hossain, branch manager, Man One Mens Wear at Plaza AR in Dhanmondi.
“Sales mainly peaks before Eid ul-Fitr and Eid ul-Azha. Each of the two Eids generates about Tk 5,000 crore to Tk 6,000 crore in sales for businesses across the country,” said Shaheen Ahmmed, president of the Fashion Entrepreneurs Association of Bangladesh
Local fashion market players said that they already missed major festivals like Pahela Baishakh so they were offering more discounts for their customers to increase their sales ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
