Loan issue against Tarique, 10 others deferred again

Dhaka’s Ortho Rin Adalat-1 (Money Loan Court-1) on Wednesday once again deferred passing order about framing issue in a case filed against BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman and 10 others for defaulting a loan payment of nationalized Sonali Bank Limited to July 16.
Following an application filed on behalf of the defendants, Judge Mohammad Rabiuzzaman of the Ortho Rin Adalat-1 passed the order.
Earlier, June 25 was fixed for passing the order subject to the submission of an order from the High Court.
The other defendants of the case are Dandy Dying Limited, late Major Iskander’s sons- Shams Iskander and Safin Iskander, daughter Sumaiya Iskander, wife Nasrin Ahmad, Tarique’s younger brother Arafat Rahman Koko, businessman Giasuddin Al Mamun, his wife Shahina Yasmin, Kazi Galib Ahmad, Shamsunnahar and her son Masud Hasan. Shamsunnahar and Masud were made defendants after the death of defendant Mozaffar Ahmad.
On October 2 last year, Sonali Bank filed the case against the defendants after their company failed to repay the principal amount waith interest accumulated in11 years. Dandy Dying had borrowed Tk 12.16 crore from the bank’s principal branch in the capital on October 16, 2011. The outstanding amount rose to Tk 45.49 crore.
