Loadshedding hits rural electricity in Bhangura

Thousands of customers in two villages have been affected by a catastrophic crash at a feeder at Rokanpur sub-station of Palli Bidyut in Bhangura upazila of Pabna. The two villages are Patharghata and Bheramara in Parbhangura union of the upazila. There is frequent load shedding of electricity. According to the locals, the power went out 21 times in two hours. It is learned that the load shedding continue till Monday (June 13) afternoon. Bhangura Palli Bidyut AGM Monir Hossain confirmed the truth of the load shedding.
Md. Hedayatul Haque, chairman of Parbhangura union and a resident of Patharghata village, said that electricity was going out on minute by minute from Sunday night. People are overwhelmed of frowzy hot. The UP chairman and local residents said the situation remained unchanged till the report was written on Monday afternoon.
It is learned that Rokanpur power substation of the upazila needs seven MW of electricity per day in six feeders. Electricity is also supplied from this substation to some areas of the adjoining Faridpur upazila. From Sunday night, 3 and a half megawatts of electricity was supplied to this substation from the national power grid. Due to this extra pressure the power connection in feeder number 5 and 6 in the substation goes down. After two hours of hard work, the power workers tried to keep the power on, but after a few seconds, it went down.
Monir Hossain, Assistant General Manager of Bhangura upazila sub-zonal office, admitted the incident and said that two feeders inactive on Sunday night due to half supply of electricity from the national grid. That’s why the distraction started. Nurul Shamsul Huda,DGM of Bhangura Sub-Jonal office mentioned the problem temporarily and said it will be fixed soon.
