Livestock can enhance uplift of extremely poor: Experts

Experts at a views-sharing meeting have stressed for giving special priority to assist the extremely poor people for expanding prospective livestock sector to enhance their socio-economic uplift in rural areas.
BARC under its ‘Challenging the Frontiers Poverty Reduction-Targeting the Ultra Poor (CFPR-TUP)’ Project organised the daylong meeting at Animal Resources Training Centre in Kawnia upazila town here on Monday.
Upazila Animal resources Officer of Kawnia Dr Manojit Kumar presided over the meeting arranged for reaching the services being provided under the CFPR-TUP Project to the ultra poor people in the rural areas giving special importance.
District Animal Resources Officer Dr Duala Chandra Bhadra attended and addressed the meeting as the chief guest while Area Manager of BRAC Farhad Hossain addressed the occasion as the special guest.
Senior Specialist -Livestock of BRAC Zulfikar Rahman, its Kawnia Branch Manager of the Ultra Poor Project Nur Islam, Social Communicator Advocacy for Social Change Minhazul Islam, journalist Sarwar Alam Mukul, farmers Abul Kashem and Mominul Haque addressed.
