The Upazila chairmen of Chandpur district protested reports appearing in the media linking the family members of Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya with the seven killings in Narayanganj and termed those totally false and baseless.
They voiced their protest at a press conference at Sagar- Runi auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here this morning.
Matlab Uttar Upazila Chairman Manzur Ahmed Manzu read out a statement on behalf of the people of Chandpur district.
Manzur Ahmed said ‘the news linking Maya family members with the gruesome killings in Narayanganj have hurt us and we are worried, and it is an attempt to shift one’s misdeeds on to other’s shoulder.”
They demanded of the authority to unearth the fact through proper investigation. A vested quarter is trying to implicate the Minister for Relief and Disaster Management Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya in the killing incidents by disseminating false, fictitious and baseless news to meet their own goal, he said.
