CRB double murder: Limon, 3 associates arrested with arms

RAB-7 forces in Chittagong arrested former central Asstt. Secretary and now expelled Chatra League leader Saiful Islam Limon accused in Chittagong double murder case in the CRB area in the city.
 RAB said Limon was arrested from his house at the port city’s Lalkhan Bazar on Wednesday, two days after the chargesheet of the double murder case was filed Limon was out on bail in the case. Arms found with him were seized.
 RAB-7 commander Lt Col Miftab Uddin said three associates of the expelled BCL leader were also arrested.
 He said a pistol, six rounds of bullets, four magazines and three one-shooter guns were seized from them. Uddin said that the law enforcers around 9pm took the four to a ‘raid’ in search for more arms.
 Limon is known as a follower of Chittagong Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, the general secretary of Awami League’s port city unit. Limon’s supporters clashed with Juba League leader Helal Akbar Chowdhury Babar’s supporters over a Tk 4.8 million tender bid of the railways in CRB area on June 24, 2013.
 Babar’s supporter Saju Palit and a child from the locality, eight-year-old Arman Hossain Tutul, were shot dead during the clash. Police filed the chargesheet of the case on Monday, naming Babar, Limon and 60 others.
 Locally known as Babar is a follower of former mayor and the ruling party’s port city unit chief ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury. Chittagong University BCL President Alamgir Tipu, who is also accused in the case, condemned the arrest of Limon and demanded his release.
