Lightnings kill nine in dists

At least nine persons, including two women, were killed and several others injured in separate lightning strike across the country on Thursday.
In Faridpur, at least three persons including a housewife died being struck by lightning in Nagarkanda and Saltha upazilas of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Hashi Begum, 45, wife of one Idris Molla from Kagdi Swajankanda village of Saltha upazila, Billal Molla, 47, son of one Ismail Molla from Bata village, and Imran Bepari, 22, son of one Pachu Bepari from South Bilnaliya village of Nagarkanda upazila.
Victim Hashi Begum was working in her kitchen room when it was raining. Suddenly a thunderbolt struck her in the kitchen room, leaving her dead,” Majhardiya Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Habibur Rahman Molla told the media.
In Bagura, at least three persons including a couple were killed and two others injured in separate lightning strike in Sariakandi of the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Amirul Islam, 45, and his wife Felani Khatun,38, from Kornibari union and Suman Miah,32, son of one Tohsin Ali from Charbatia village.
In Patuakhali, a farmer named Motiur Rahman Faraji, 65, was killed in a thunder strike in Horidebpur village under Golachipa upazila of the district on Thursday.
Locals said that Motiur went to harvest paddy for cultivation when he was struck by lightning and died on the spot.
Aftab Murshed, Officer-in-Charge of Golachipa Police Station confirmed the news to the media.
In Magura, a farmer named Alip Biswas,30, was killed by lightning strike at Atharokhada village under Sadar upazila of the district.
Faruque Ahmed, Sub-Inspector of Sadar police told the matter to the media.
In Manikganj, another farmer named Mongal Chandra Sarker, 55, was killed in ghior upazila of the district.
