Lightnings cost 27 more lives

Rain and thunder down have created panic among the people as 27 persons were killed in lightning strikes in a single day on Wednesday in different districts areas the country.
Of them, six people were killed in Habiganj while three in Rajshahi, two each in Sunamganj, Nilphamari, Kishoreganj and Manikganj and one each in Gaibandha and Narayanganj, Mymensingh and Netrakona, our correspondents reports:
In Habiganj, six farmers were killed by lightning while they were harvesting paddy in haor areas of four upazilas -Baniachong, Nabiganj, Lakhai and Madhabpur at noon.
The victims are: Joynal, 60, Swapon Das, 35, Narayan Paul, 35, Abu Talib, 20, Sufi Miah, 30, and Jaoharlal Sarker, 23.
In Rajshahi’s Tanore upazila, three persons including a woman were killed and two others injured in lightning strikes Wednesday.
The deceased are Anisur Rahman, 30, of Bataspur,Elena Murmu, 35, of Chalkratiram and Sohag Ali, 16, of Duboil villages, said Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tanore Police Station.
They were declared dead at the local upazila health complex where the injured Ananda Kumar Saha, 32, and Liton Chandra Saha, 30, of Bataspur are receiving treatment there.
In Nilphamari’s Jaldhaka upazila, Asma Beowa, 50, was killed while a lightning struck her at her house in Dhukdhuki Shalon village and Noor Amin, 45, killed by the lightning as he was working at a field.
In Sunamganj, two farmers – Jewel Ahmed, 16, and Alamgir, 22, were killed by separate incidents of lightning strikes while they were working on fields in Dharamapasha upazila and Sulla upazila around noon, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
In Manikganj, a school student, Saiful Islam Antor, 12, a sixth grader of Taluknagar High School died when a lightning him at his school.
Another victim Yakub Ali Sheikh, 48, a farmer of Hasadia village in Daulatpur upazila, died while working at a paddy field.
In Kishoreganj, Md Shahjalal Mia, 25, a polytechnic student of Nikoli upazila, and Dipali Rani Barman, 35, of Pakundia upazila died in separate incidents of lightning strikes.
In Gaibandha, farmer Meher Ali, 35, was killed when lightning struck him on a field in Purbo Salua area of Fulchari upazila around 2:00pm.
In Narayanganj, school student Kulfi Akhter, 8, was killed as a thunderbolt struck her while playing at a field near her house in Sonargaon upazila.
In Mymensingh, Alal Uddin, 40, a farmer in Char Nilaxia village was killed by the lightning while working in the field, said Khandaker Shaker Ahmed, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Kotwali Police Station.
In Netrakona, Islam Uddin, 55, a farmer in Khaliajuri upazila died on the spot due to the lightning strike, said Md Hazrat Ali, officer-in-charge of local police station.
