Two persons including a young man were killed on the spot and three others were injured by lightning at Dashpara area in Mohanganj upazila under Netrakona district on Sunday night.
Police and local sources said, the dead were identified as Motiur Rahman, 40, and Uzzal Mia, 30, of the aforesaid village Dashpara. The injured persons were identified as Ziaur Rahman, 32, Sultan Mia, 36, and Limon Mia , 22 of the aforesaid village.
Motiur and Uzzal died instantly and Ziaur, Sultan and Limon were injured as they were hit by a thunder-bolt while they were fishing into a beel (natural open water body) nearby their house during heavy downpour, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohanganj police station Ansari Zinnot Ali said quoting local people.
The injured persons were being treated in Mohanganj upazila health complex , the OC added.
