41 BNP-Jamaat men sent to jail in Netrakona

A court here on Sunday sent 41 BNP-Jamaat activists to jail in two cases filed for violence in Madan upazila over the jailing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on February 8.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate passed the order when they surrendered before the court with a bail prayer. The two cases-one under the Speedy Trial Act and the other under the Explosive Substances Act-were filed with Madan Police Station accusing 48 named and 20/25 unnamed activists of BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for unleashing subversive activities centring the verdict of the BNP chief.
The accused include upazila BNP president Nurul Alam, general secretary Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury, vice-presidents Abdul Halim Bulo and Mirza Ramjan Ali, organising secretary Lalu Miah, Madan municipality BNP president Saidur Rahman Samrat, general secretary Bulbul Ahmed and Jamaat upazila vice-chairman Ruhul Amin.
