Two people were killed by lightning at Nakla in Sherpur on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam (30) son of Monez Ali at Hasankhila of Urfa union and Nazmul Haque (45) son of late Siddique Sarkar at Reharchar of Chandrakona Union in Nakla.
Local sources said Rafiqul Islam went to field to pick aman seedlings on Tuesday morning. At that time it was drizzling and Rafiqul was injured seriously by a sudden lightning and fell down on the ground. Later his relatives rescued him and took him to Nakla Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Another Nazmul Haque went fishing in the river when it was raining. As he was late in returning home, his elder brother Mozammel Haque went out to look for him and at one stage he found Mozammel lying dead on the bank of Safar Uddin’s pond.
Officer in charge of Nakla thana Mushfiqur Rahman confirmed the incident of lightning and said legal action is under process about it.
