A farmer was killed in a lightning strike at Uttar Pona village in Kashiani upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Abu Taher Mridha,35, son of Badsha Mridha, a resident of the village.
Manir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kashiani Police Station, said a streak of thunderbolt struck Abu Taher in the area while he was returning home after work in his jute field at about 5:15pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
