At least two farmers were killed in a separated lighting strikes in Bara haor under Itna upazila and Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as farmer Mokbul Hossion (44) son of Golam Mostafa at Kalipur village in Mriga Union of Itna upazila and Md.Bijoy Miah (18) son of Abdul Jalil in Chandpore of Katiadi upazila.
Locals and Itna Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC)Md.Mursheduzzaman said that Victim Mokbul Hossion was hit by lightning while harvesting Boro paddy at Kalipur haor in Itna and leaving him dead on the spot.
In another incident,Md.Bijoy Miah was killed by thunderbolt while harvesting Boro paddy at Chandpore area in Katiadi upazila before Ifftar. Katiadi OC confirmed this matter.
