Chittagong Bureau :One food grains laden lighter vessel capsized at the Sandwip channel in outer berth of the Chittagong Port yesterday morning following the collision with another vessels. Lighter vessel MV Marshad-2 capsized, but the crew survived, a port sources said. Director of BIWTA, Chittagong Akkas Ali told this reporter that lighter vessel MV Marshad was proceeding to Sandwip Island with food grains cargo from Chittagong Port which collided head-on with a lighter vessel MV Salma, leaving the MV Marshad capsized as water entered inside the hedge of the vessel. The crew of the vessel were rescued by the sailors of other vessels passing by the capsized vessel. The lighter vessel was carrying 1,500 tons of food grains from Chittagong Port to Sandwip . Rescue ship of the port rushed to the spot for salvaging the vessels, sources said.
