Bangladesh Weightlifting Federation (BWF) honored famed weightlifters and organizers on the occasion of Bengali New Year 1424 at the conference room of the National Sports Council on Saturday.
South Asian Games gold winning Bangladeshi lifter Mabia Akhter, who was also adjudged the best lifter of the year 2016, will receive Tk 15,000 per month for six months from ARK Group.
Vice President of ARK Mohammad Atiquzzaman made this announcement at the function, chaired by BWF vice president Firoj Khan.
BWF President and Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Abul Hossain was the chief guest at the function and made an announcement to provide Tk one lakh for the gold winning lifter in the national championship.
Federation general secretary Narayan Chandra Devnath also spoke at the function.
Weightlifting Federation honoured five renowned organisers with posthumous awards for their contributions to the field of Weightlifting. They are: Ayub Khan, JK Abbasi, Anwaruddin Ahmed, Abdul Kader and Mohammad Humayan
Besides, eight more famed organisers were also honoured on the occasion. They are: Ruhul Amin, Mokbul Ahmed Khan, Yousuf Khan, Anisur Rahman, Abdul Quddus, Mohammad Shah Jalal, Mohammad Moslem and Mujahid Khan.
