Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Friday.
Sufi Abdullahil Maruf, senior information officer of the ministry, confirmed the information, saying the minister’s wife Layla Arjumandu Banu and personal secretary Habibur Rahman too tested positive.
“As they developed symptoms similar to that of coronavirus, they took coronavirus tests on Thursday. The test results came out positive,” he said. Currently, they are being treated at their residences. “Minister Mozammel requested everyone to pray for the swift recovery of coronavirus patients,” he added. Bangladesh on Friday saw the biggest jump in coronavirus cases and deaths in a single day as the health authorities confirmed the detection of record 3,471 new patients and 46 deaths in the last 24 hours.
With the latest ones, the country has so far recorded 1,095 deaths and 81,523 cases.
