LGED implementing uplift projects costing Tk 16.031m in Sylhet Divn

Development works on 33 schemes worth Tk 16.031 million have been going on in Sylhet Division.
 LGED has been implementing these as programme for improving the rural road communication network, sources informed.
Of the total, four schemes of road development, one each in the districts of Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj and Sunamganj had been on implementation at a total cost of Tk 2.5 million.
Works on the rest 29 projects worth Tk 13.531 million have been going on in the region by the female workers in three districts. These include 19 in Sylhet district with a cost of Tk 7.437 million, eight in Moulvibazar with a cost of Tk 4.134 million and five in Habiganj for Tk 1.96 million.
These schemes were taken up for improvement and maintenance of different upazila and rural growth centre connecting roads, informed the LGED superintending engineer, Sylhet, Adinath Ghosh, adding, only the rural female workers are employed for the road reconstruction through earth work with a view to engaging the rural poor for their financial benefits.
On the other hand, work on 20 other periodic maintenance programme of different internal roads has been going on with a total expenditure of Tk 59.045 million. These include, 11 in Sylhet at a cost of Tk 42 million, two in Moulvibazar with a cost of Tk 1.862 million, three in Habiganj at a cost of Tk 7.478 million and four in Sunamganj with Tk 7.734 million, the sources added.
All the schemes are scheduled to be completed by the end of June 30, 2017, the senior official added.
