Lewis sets up Dhaka Dynamites’ 7-wicket win in BPL

Evin Lewis struck a blistering 31-ball 75 that saw Dhaka Dynamites to register an overwhelming seven-wicket victory over Chittagong Vikings in the 29th match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 held on Monday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Dhaka started their chase of 187, losing Shahid Afridi for duck in the first over but Evin Lewis and Joe Denly were in fine touch and the duo shared a strong 118-run second wicket stand to take Dhaka to a comfortable position.
The West Indies recruit left handed batsman Lewis finally fell to Rayad Emrit in the 12th over before Joe Denly was also removed by Tanvir Haider after a knock of 39-ball 44.
Lewis’s breezy innings contained nine sixes and three fours. He punished the Chittagong bowlers mercilessly hitting all square of the park and Cameron Delport also came in and kept hitting the big ones.
Delport and Shakib Al Hasan completed the remaining formality to guide Dynamites to victory with seven balls to spare.
Chittagong were unable to take any more wickets. Delport hit a 24-ball 43, an innings that studded with two fours and two sixes.
Lewis of Dynamites was named the player of the match for his entertaining batting display.
Earlier, a superb knock by Anamul Haque helped struggling Chittagong Vikings pile up a challenging total of 187 for 5 from their allotted 20 overs, after they opted to bat first.
Anamul pairing with his skipper Luke Ronchi contributed 107-run second wicket stand in just 65-ball after the Vikings lost their opener Soumya Sarkar early. Ronchi was removed by Dhaka skipper Shakib Al Hasan in the 14th over. Ronchi smacked a 40-ball 59 with four fours and four sixes.
Anamul reached his 50 in just 31 balls, stepping out to Shahid Afridi and belting him over long-on for six.
Anamul perished Abu Haider in the 18th giving Cameron Delport a catch in the deep square leg. He scored 47-ball 73, an innings that studded with three boundaries and six massive sixes.
Later, Sikandar Raza’s hurricane 11-ball 26 runs as Chittagong able to put a challenging target in front of Dhaka Dynamites.
Sunil Narine, Mohammad Shahid, Abu Haider and Shakib Al Hasan all shared one wicket each for Dhaka, but Narine was superb with ball as he conceded 11 runs in his four overs and taking the wicket of Soumya Sarkar.
With this win, Dhaka Dynamites moved up top in the points table with 11 points from nine matches while bottom-ranked Chittagong Vikings have five points from the same number of outings.
