Legal notice served on Menon over casino gambling

A legal notice has been issued on Wednesday requesting the government to take action against former Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon MP and two others for their involvement in casino gambling in the country.
Two other persons are Whip of the National Parliament Md Shamsul Huq Chowdhury and Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Muhibul Haque. Advocate Md Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, served the notice yesterday and requested them to reply to this notice within 24 hours. If they fail to reply to this notice within the stipulated time, a writ petition will be filed with the High Court against the notice receivers.
A copy of the notice has also been sent to the Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs to take necessary actions against all those involved with the casino gambling in the country and another copy has been served on State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali for his presence in a meeting which took decision about casino.
“Rashed Khan Menon, MP from Dhaka-8 Constituency and Chairman of the governing body of the Youngman’s Club Fakirapul, inaugurated the casino cutting red rope. His photograph is in the Chairman’s room of Youngman’s Club. The law enforcers didn’t take any action against the said chairman though some others were arrested. The said Member of Parliament is liable for crime as defined under Section 3, 4, 15 of the Public Gambling Act,” read the notice.
“Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Muhibul Haque took a decision on September 24, 2019, in presence of State Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali that they will install casino for foreigners only. But the decision is also unconstitutional as above,” also read the notice.
