National Legal Aid Day observed: Legal aid for poor, distressed litigants stressed

The National Legal-Aid Day- 2017 was observed in Rangpur district on Friday. District Legal-Aid Committee arranged a colourful rally, discussion, blood donation and Legal-Aid Mela on the occasion.
A discussion meeting organised by District Legal-Aid Committee was held at Judge Court premise in the afternoon. District and special Judge Norash Chandro Barman, Chad Mohammad Al Ragi, presided over the meeting.
It was addressed among others by Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahamad , Police Super Md Mizanur Rahman.
BSS from Rajshahi adds: Speakers here called upon lawyers and others concerned to be more sincere for ensuring legal aids to the grassroots poor, distressed and other litigants.
They said that all people are equal to the eye of law. So, all people should have access to legal aid coverage whenever they need.
Legal aid related cases should be prioritized to ensure speedy disposal for the greater interest of the distressed and poor peoples.
District Legal Aid Committee organized the discussion at the District Judge’s Court premises to mark the National Legal Aid Day-2017 on Friday like other parts in the country.
With Senior District and Session Judge and Chairman of District Legal Aid Committee Mahbubul Alam in the chair, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin, Superintendent of Police Moazzem Hossain, District Legal Aid Officer Selim Reja and President of Advocate Bar Association Lokeman Ali, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The speakers emphasised the need for concerted efforts of all quarters to ensure access to justice of the distressed and disadvantaged people. They viewed that infusing dynamism in the legal aid services could be the effective means of attaining the cherished goal.
District Legal Aid Committee Chairman Mahbubul Alam said only the judiciary or any other organisation is not sufficient to ensure legal aid to the underprivileged people, but a comprehensive effort is essential in this regard.
BSS from Natore adds: National Legal Aid Day-2017 was observed in the district yesterday with the aim of providing judicial assistance to the poor, insolvent and destitute justice-seekers and raising awareness about the issue. To mark the day, the district legal aid committee arranged a colourful rally followed by a discussion meeting on the Judge Court premises. The district health department also arranged a blood donation camp on the occasion.
