Bowlers continued their domination on the second day as Rajshahi Division bowlers brought their team back in contention as Sylhet were bowled out for 219 in their first innings in the tier 2 four-day National Cricket League (NCL) held on Wednesday at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
In reply, Rajshahi batsmen were again in spot of bother as they were 92 for 3 in their second innings when the stumps were drawn for the second day’s play. Junaid Siddique and Farhad Hossain were on the crease with 42 and 0 run were the two unbeaten Rajshahi batsmen. Shamsur Rahman, Abu Jayed and Abul Hasan shared one wicket each for Sylhet.
Earlier, Sylhet Division resuming at 43 for 2 were forced to close their first innings at 219 against some brilliant bowling spell, failing to notch a big lead as earlier yesterday they were bundled out Rajshahi Division for 204 in their first innings.
Abul Hossain saved the Sylhet blushes with a fighting 59 not out. Earlier Ruman with 41, Alok with 40 and Sayem with 36 runs saw Sylhet comfortably placed but Farhad and Mamun bowled brilliantly only to allow Sylhet with only 15 runs lead in the first innings.
Farhad was the wrecker in chief for Rajshahi as he captured five Sylhet scalps for 91 runs. He was well supported by Mamun with three wickets for 47.
