Plan International Bangladesh organized Learning Dissemination Workshop at Begum Rokeya Auditorium RDRS in Rangpur on Sunday. This workshop was organized under Anticipatory Action Pilot Project funded by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The object of the workshop is to disseminate the learning and best practices so far gained by the project and also shared the publication and video documentary of the project. Additional Divisional Commissioner, Rangpur Division, Mr. Md Zakir Hossain, attended the workshop as “Chief Guest” and shared the insight of Government.
Ashish Kumar Bakshi, Divisional Manager of Plan International Bangladesh presided over the workshop. Apart from that District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer of Rangpur, A.T.M. Akhteruzzaman and Woman Welfare Officer of NageswariUpazila, Kurigram, JinnataraYesmin were present in the workshop as honorable guest.
The workshop was started by welcome speech. Later, there was a presentation on the context of girls’ specially during the flood. Then, an open discussion session held. Plan International Bangladesh has been implementing Anticipatory Action
Framework Pilot Project since 25 June 2020 with an objective to protect 4,500 vulnerable adolescent girls in flood prone areas with lifesaving services focusing on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and gender-based violence (GBV). Project activities included the distribution of MHM kits and flash cards consisted of
awareness messages and information on SRHR, GBV, psychosocial support (PSS), and MHM. This anticipatory pilot was implemented in three highly vulnerable flood prone districts i.e. Kurigram, Gaibandha and Jamalpur by targeting 4,500 beneficiaries in three Upazilas of these districts (Nageswari, Saghata, and Dewanganj). The project
was established based on the pre-agreed forecasting triggers.
The interventions were aimed to mitigate the impacts of GBV and challenges in the menstrual health for 4,500 adolescent girls.
Among the other guests, government official from different departments,
representatives from UN organizations, journalists, youth women, NGO and media representatives participated in the event.
