State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak underscored the need for learning commuter programming by the youths to make them eligible in leading the country digitally coping with the modern world.
“Our youths are very much talented …Bangladesh could comply with the modern digital world by exploiting their talent,” he said this on Friday while addressing the concluding session of the ‘National High School Programming Competition (NHSPC) 2021’ after connecting with zoom platform here.
Palak said, “Learning computer programming is mandatory for the youths to make them qualified for leading the digital world at home and abroad.”
The online programming for the students was organized by the ICT division with a slogan ‘Januk Sabai Dekhao Tumi.’
Terming the youths as very talented, the state minister said only proper utilization of their talent could make the country able in launching and discovery of the satellite from this soil.
“But the opportunity to fulfil their [youths] dreams will not come into light if we could not at least teach them programming”, he said.
He said if they (youths) know programming, a future skilled based language would make them capable of communicating in all global languages.
Even programming is essential to operate driverless vehicles which are ensuing in the country under the modern technology, he added.
Bhasaguru, a software of nine comprehensive language developed with the assistance of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has been prepared to communicate with all the languages in the world with this application.
Chaired by Bangladesh Computer Council’s Executive Director Partho Pratim Dev, the programme also was addressed, among others, by ICT Division Senior Secretary NM Ziaul Alam, Professor Dr Muhammad Zafor Iqbal and Professor Mohammad Kaikobad.
A total of 11,693 students from 444 upazilas across the country participated the four-hour long programming and quiz competition.
