A lawyer of Bagerhat was arrested from his local residence in Bagerhat Pourashava on Friday afternoon on the charge of committing a rape with a female client forcibly in his chamber cum residence on March 29. The arrested lawyer is Adv. Fakir Iftekharul Islam (55). He is the Member-Secretary of Bagehat district Tanti (weavers’) League. On the day
(Friday) earlier the victim client lodged a case with Bagerhat Mosel PS against him (the lawyer) under Anti Women and Children Repression Act.
It is stated in the case that the victim client filed a case in Anti Women and Children Repression Court, Bagerhat against her husband in the year 2018 and since then the arrestee was her legal adviser. In connection with the case she went to the chamber very often. During the period the accused lawyer used to ill propose now and then. But she turned down all the ill proposals every time. At one stage on March 29 the accused lawyer requested her to go to his local chamber attached with his residence for giving some legal advices.
But after reaching there the committed a rape with her forcibly and recorded the obscene in his VIDEO camera. Later, the victim registered a case with Bagerhat PS against the accused on Friday morning in connection with the matter. When contacted with K M Azizur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Model PS he admitted the fact to the local newsmen.
