City Desk :
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has called for launching a social movement against drugs to implement the government-declared zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
“Start from wherever you are, whatever your position is. Drug traffickers-dealers are spreading many new types of drugs among the new generation, which is slowly decaying the society. To implement the policy of zero tolerance against drugs, public representatives should come forward to carry out clean-up campaigns against drugs in every village,” the minister said while speaking as the chief guest at an anti-drug workshop in Porsha Upazila Parishad auditorium on Saturday morning.
The workshop was organized by Naogaon District Administration and Rajshahi Narcotics Control Directorate, to build a social movement to prevent drug abuse and its selling, said a release, reports BSS.
“Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced a zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
Therefore, no leader or activist of the district or upazila Awami League can support or make a recommendation on behalf of any drug dealer. If they do so, their names will be included in the charge sheets of the cases filed in this regard,” he added.
Calling upon people from all walks of life to work together against drugs, he said, “The anti-drug movement needs to start from the family to create a healthy nation and a prosperous Bangladesh by keeping the next generation free from the influence of drugs,” added the release.
