Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar said the government is launching awareness campaign at the educational institutions to make the students aware about digital crimes.
“Female students are becoming victims as they lack knowledge about digital devices….Awareness needs to be created through imparting adequate knowledge about the constantly changing digital world”, he said this on Wednesday while speaking at a press conference at the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in the city.
Office of the Controller and Certifying Authorities (CCA) under ICT Division organized the press conference on holding workshops titled “Awareness of girl in digital security”, Controller of CCA and officials concerned, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
Jabbar said the CCA organized workshops at 40 schools under eight divisions for creating awareness about cyber security among 10,225 female students last year.
As part of continuation of the massive awareness campaign, the CCA is going to hold workshops at 100 schools under eight divisions this year to educate 25,000 girl students about different patterns of cyber crimes through digital devices.
The CCA will launch the campaign through holding a workshop styled “Awareness of girl in digital security” at Azimpur Govt. Girls School and College auditorium today.
The workshops will be held to sensitize the students on different digital crimes, explanation of laws related to cyber crimes, impact of social media and finding out doings and ways for overcoming ICT-based crimes.
Jabbar said, “We are thinking to bring all female students from primary to tertiary levels under cyber security. But we want to start awareness campaign from school level as students under primary and secondary levels are more vulnerable in case of cyber security compared to the students of colleges and universities,” he added.
In phases, such workshops will be held at all educational institutions across the country to protect females from cyber crimes, the minister added.
